Lewandowski confirms availability to face Super Eagles and the Nigerian defense better start preparing now. The Barcelona striker is not done with international Football. Poland may have missed out on the World Cup, but their captain is showing up for the friendly against Nigeria with a point to prove.

Poland manager Jan Urban is expected to name his squad on Tuesday, May 26. The training camp starts two days later. Two friendlies are lined up. Ukraine first, then Nigeria. Lewandowski has already told the coaching staff he will be there. No excuses. No early holiday. He wants to play.

There is an emotional angle to this one. The camp will also serve as a tribute to former coach Jacek Magiera. Lewandowski made it clear that saying goodbye properly mattered to him. He wants to be on the pitch for that.

The numbers behind Lewandowski’s international career are staggering. Six major tournaments. Four European Championships with six goals. Two World Cups with two goals. He has carried Poland on his back for over a decade. At 37, he is still hungry.

Nigeria knows exactly what Lewandowski can do. The Super Eagles faced Poland eight years ago and came away with a win. Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Francis Uzoho, and Moses Simon all featured in that match. They will likely be there again. Lewandowski remembers. Strikers like him do not forget losses.

This friendly matters more than most. Poland are playing for pride after failing to qualify for the World Cup. Nigeria are fine-tuning ahead of their own schedule. Lewandowski standing in the opposition box changes the entire equation. The Super Eagles backline will have their hands full.
