Divine Mukasa Signs New Man City Contract Until 2030

Mukasa joined the Citizens from West Ham United in 2023 and wasted no time making his mark. Across 75 appearances for the Under-18s and Elite Development Squad he registered 26 goals and 32 assists in all competitions. Those numbers turned heads quickly. His consistency and versatility made him impossible to ignore.

That form earned him a senior debut under Pep Guardiola in September 2025. He went on to feature in five more first team matches that season. A loan move to Leicester City followed in the second half of the campaign. In 15 Championship appearances he delivered two goals and three assists. It was a short spell but it showed he could handle physical senior football.

After signing the new contract Mukasa spoke about how much the club has shaped him. He said he has learned a great deal from both players and staff since arriving. He added that the experiences gained have improved him not just as a player but as a person. The taste of first team action earlier last season only deepened his hunger to compete at the highest level.

Director of Football Hugo Viana did not hide his excitement. He described Mukasa as someone with huge potential and said the news of his extension was really good for the club. Viana praised the youngster’s humility, hard work, and eagerness to learn. He noted the positive development seen during the Leicester loan and expressed excitement about what comes next.

The big question now is whether Mukasa stays with the senior squad for the 2026-27 season. Enzo Maresca is expected to take over from Guardiola and pre-season will be Mukasa’s chance to impress. Another loan move remains a possibility. Competition in attacking midfield is fierce with Phil Foden, Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, and Omar Marmoush all vying for minutes.

Off the pitch the club is also making moves. Talks with defender Josko Gvardiol over a new contract are said to be progressing positively. The situation with Rodri however is less certain. He will soon enter the final 12 months of his deal and a decision on his future is expected after the 2026 World Cup. For Mukasa though the path is clear. He is staying and he is hungry.
