Chelsea Confirm Four Academy Players Will Leave Including Sam Rak-Sakyi

Under previous head coach Enzo Maresca, Rak-Sakyi was given four first team appearances. There were signs he could eventually challenge for a place in the senior ranks. The central midfielder played 86 minutes of a 3-1 Conference League victory over FC Astana in December 2024. He also made three further substitute outings. Now 21 years old he was an unused substitute in both quarter-final legs against Legia Warsaw. He made just 12 appearances for the Under-21s during the 2025-26 season.

Jimi Tauriainen is also leaving on a free transfer. The midfielder has first team experience under Mauricio Pochettino from the 2023-24 season. He was introduced as an 89th minute substitute against Leeds United in the FA Cup fifth round. He also came on in the same minute during a 2-0 Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur. That match against Spurs was the same evening Josh Acheampong made his senior debut for the club.

Richard Olise is also being allowed to join a new team. He is the brother of Bayern Munich star Michael Olise and made 58 appearances across the Under-18s, Under-19s, and Under-21s. Brodi Hughes completes the quartet. He departs after his only two outings during the 2025-26 campaign which came for AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Trophy. A former England Under-18 international Hughes contributed four goals and eight assists from 87 appearances for the Chelsea Under-21s side.
