The 20 year old has moved to St James’ Park for a reported £24m and becomes Eddie Howe’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

Jaouen began his professional career with Guingamp before leaving in July 2023 to join Reims.
He established himself as an important first team player there and now takes the next step.
The 6ft 6in Parisian born shot stopper has represented France at Under-21 level, and he kept 15 clean sheets in 34 Ligue 2 appearances during the 2025-26 season as Reims finished sixth in the table.

Speaking to the club’s official website Jaouen said he is really excited to become a Newcastle United player.
He explained that when he visited the training ground he could see how passionate everyone is about the club and he loved the environment straight away.
He also had the chance to see the stadium and described it as huge.
He said he has heard so much about the supporters and how they are the best in the country, adding that the passion of the entire city and the atmosphere at St James’ Park are famous throughout football.
He cannot wait to experience that for himself and become a true Geordie.

Jaouen described himself as a modern keeper who enjoys one on one situations and building from the back, comfortable with the ball at his feet.
He now wants to develop alongside the amazing players and staff at the club and prove his value on the pitch.

Magpies boss Howe added that Jaouen is a great addition and he is delighted to welcome him.
He described the youngster as an exciting goalkeeper who has shown real promise during his time in France, with a calmness and presence that belies his age.
He is someone the club feels can grow and improve within their environment.

Sporting director Ross Wilson shared his thoughts on the key reasons behind the move, saying this is a signing they have been working hard on for a number of months.
He said Jaouen is a hugely talented young goalkeeper who has gained a lot of admirers across European clubs and has an exciting future ahead.
What stood out in all their discussions was his ambition, focus, and determination to be at Newcastle.

It remains to be seen whether Jaouen will immediately become Newcastle’s new first choice shot stopper.
His arrival does cast doubts over the long term future of Nick Pope, who lost his regular starting spot during the second half of last season following a string of error strewn performances.
