The Wales international also faces stiff competition at left back from Destiny Udogie, Djed Spence, Souza, and new signing Andrew Robertson. Despite this he has extended his stay for another season.

Speaking to the club website Davies said Tottenham feels like home. He admitted the past few months have been difficult not being able to help the team on the pitch. He tried to contribute off it instead by being a voice in the dressing room. He said his heart is on his sleeve for the club and he will give everything.

The 33 year old will now enter his 13th season at Tottenham. He joined from Swansea City for just under £11m in the summer of 2014. Since then he has scored 10 goals and provided 26 assists in 363 appearances. He also played eight Europa League matches during the club’s triumphant 2024-25 run.

Bissouma’s time in North London has come to a quiet end. Tottenham released a statement confirming his departure alongside several academy players. They thanked all departing players for their contributions and wished them well. The Mali midfielder arrived from Brighton for just over £25m. Both Arsenal and Manchester United had previously shown interest but neither made an official bid.

The move never truly worked out. Bissouma struggled to settle under Antonio Conte. He enjoyed a brief resurgence under Ange Postecoglou in 2023-24 starting 28 Premier League matches but that number dropped to 16 the following season. His relationship with Thomas Frank fractured early due to disciplinary issues that saw him left out of the Super Cup squad. A knee problem then kept him out for the entire first half of the campaign. He returned to play 11 times but his signing will ultimately be viewed as a financial disappointment.
