Edwards added that Jimenez did not need any convincing about the move itself. The 35 year old had other things to weigh up. His family had been living in London with the kids still in school there. Other options were on the table and rightly so because he remains a very good player. But Jimenez felt this was the right thing for him.
The bond between the striker and the supporters played a big part. Edwards recalled the moment Jimenez returned to Molineux toward the end of last season. He said he could sense the crowd thinking how good it would be if Raul scored the winner that day. It was a strange feeling but he appreciated how much the player means to the club.

Edwards said the club is in Jimenez’s heart and that means everything. He also wants to help get Wolves back to where they have been before. Edwards pointed out that both Jimenez and Kieran Trippier could easily have stayed in the Premier League but they chose to come and help achieve something special.
Wolves also confirmed that Jimenez will wear the number nine shirt. The number became available after Adam Armstrong agreed to vacate it. Jimenez wore the same number during his first spell at the club where he contributed 57 goals and 23 assists across 166 appearances.
The Mexican striker’s return is a massive statement for Wolves as they prepare for the Championship campaign. Few signings carry this kind of emotional weight and the fans will be counting down the days until he leads the line at Molineux again.
