So when my Chrome started acting up after a recent update I decided to test both alternatives while Chrome sorted itself out.

I tried Phoenix Browser first because it was sitting disabled in my device settings.
I enabled it and opened the app.
The first thing Phoenix did was spam me with breaking news notifications.
That was red flag number one.
I turned everything off in settings and opened the browser properly.
It told me the ad blocker was activated and I felt relieved thinking surely no ads from here.

I visited Vily and logged into my account.
Then I tried to open the WordPress admin post editor to write an article.
The browser could not load the editor area.
I closed the app and opened it again thinking it was a network issue.
Instead of loading my page Phoenix made me watch a five second countdown ad before I could even access the browser lobby.

Tonight I gave Opera Mini a chance.
It hung on first launch and froze for a few seconds before stabilising.
Then it also told me to watch an ad.
At this point I just sat there staring at the screen.

These browsers cannot load a WordPress post editor.
They make you watch countdown ads before you even start browsing.
The sites you visit already have their own ads so if you use these browsers for 30 minutes you will probably spend 20 of those minutes just watching ads from the browser and the websites combined.

Google Chrome never showed me a single ad inside the app itself.
It just worked.
No countdowns.
No breaking news notifications.
No begging me to watch a clip before I can type a URL.
Chrome is the real legend.
Right now it still has not started working properly for me and I have uninstalled it and installed Chrome Beta instead.
I will take my chances with Beta over any browser that treats me like a captive audience before I even open a single webpage.
