Morris Monye has finally broken his silence. The former Director of Mobilisation for the Obidient Movement has publicly apologised to Peter Obi and the entire movement after six months of silence.
Monye resigned his position back in November 2025. His exit came right after the Anambra governorship election, which many considered a poor showing. At the time, he blamed weak coordination and disappointing results for his decision.

In a lengthy statement shared on X this Thursday, Monye described his resignation letter as a product of frustration and immaturity. He admitted he allowed raw emotions to cloud his judgment and made statements that dragged Peter Obi unfairly.
“I made statements that subtly and unnecessarily dragged Peter Obi, a man I still respect for his vision, integrity, and sacrifice for this nation,†Monye wrote. “That was wrong. It was childish, and beneath the standard I should have upheld.â€
What makes this apology significant is Monye’s earlier claim that he personally bankrolled much of the movement’s activities. Travel costs, voter awareness campaigns, logistics, support for local structures — all came from his own pocket. He said he received zero financial support from Obi or the leadership.
Despite those grievances, Monye chose to eat humble pie. He told the Obidient family that he takes full responsibility for his actions. He admitted that deleting the original resignation letter didn’t undo the damage or the disappointment many supporters felt.
He directed a personal apology to Peter Obi himself. Monye called the former presidential candidate a man of vision and integrity, adding that his words at the time failed to reflect the values Obi preaches. “Sir, I am sincerely sorry,†he stated.
Monye also addressed the young supporters who form the backbone of the movement. He acknowledged their hurt. “You didn’t deserve to see internal cracks turned into public drama. I let you down,†he wrote.
He made it clear that this apology is not about seeking any position or favour. According to him, it’s simply the right thing to do. He promised to rebuild trust through consistent actions, though he admitted trust must be earned back slowly.
Whether the Obidient family will fully embrace him again remains to be seen.
